Mental Health is still a Taboo?
This story is a real-life experience of one of my friends. A few days ago, I and my friend went to a hospital which was not in our home town. As he was facing depression and anxiety for a few years. So, his doctor prescribed a few anti-depressant medicines to him.
We met with a junior doctor and showed him the prescription and asked him to give the proper medication to my friend. Initially, he was loud and behaved like my friend did a crime. My friend had anxiety issues and requested the junior doctor not to speak aloud. Then the junior doctor in return reacted back in a very bad way. And, again he frightened him like do you know the medicine you are demanding is not a normal one.
After that conversation, my friend cried a lot. He was now morally depressed. He was thinking like it is his fault like he is not mentally healthy.
I was quite angry on this unethical side of our society. I know in our society, things are changing now, changing for good. But, still, the journey of mental health has a long way to go.
If we cannot help others, it is totally acceptable. But it is our duty as human beings that we should not do any such thing that harms the physical as well as mental health of the person next to us.
